Is this the future of Cinema? MoviePass. an early stage company wants to give you unlimited movies in the cinema for a monthly fee. From their homepage, it seems that they plan on offering this deal across the nation. This is certainly one way the movie industry can combat piracy but with Cinema’s owned by several different companies and movie theaters having their own loyalty programs, I am a bit skeptical as to whether MoviePass can pull it off and have all theaters sign on to their plan. It seems like a good idea, but I will like to see it implemented in the future.
How it works?
You can download their iPhone app, and you also get your unlimited credit card that should work at any cinema. Is there a market for this type of business? How many people go to the cinema several times a month? If there is a market for this form of subscription based business then it could workout great- thier data suggest there is.
