The new iPhone 5 has been completely rebuilt and as expected, the reviews are glowing. However, some things have not changed such as the non-removable battery, same camera and the new dock connector has been met with criticism–because it is incompatible with the 300 million odd, Apple devices out there.
Well I haven’t got my hands on the new iPhone just yet, so here is your round-up of reviews:
Cnet: Both a video and written review. Scott Stein gives the iPhone 5 a 4/5 excellent rating.
Techcrunch: MG Siegler review of the iPhone. A well-known Apple fan but still gives an objective review.
Engadget: Another stellar review, it seems the iPhone 5 delivers on it’s promises with a much faster processor and better performance.
General consensus: From the reviews it seems the iPhone 5 has lived up to the hype, the magic happens in the inside of the phone rather than the outside, although it has been rebuilt with a more aluminum hardware rather than glass. All the reviews agree that the iPhone 5 is almost twice as fast and loads up much quicker. According to MG’s review- the new iPhone loads 30 seconds faster than the 4S
Samsung S3 vs iPhone 5: Technically it is hard to say that one smartphone is better than the other; it comes down to preference for the operating system (Android OS vs iOS) and the general user experience. When it comes down to it, the camera’s are about the same quality, the phones are just about as fast as each other. Basically, if you enjoy maneuvering your phone with the Android system go for the S3, and if you love iOS go for the iPhone.
iPhone 5 setbacks list:
- Can’t go over 64GB
- No NFC: NFC is technology that allows you to pay for items by swiping your phone
- Camera still the same 8mp: However there is a new panorama feature
There aren’t many drawbacks with the new iPhone 5- it is a head-to-head battle with the Samsung S3, sales wise- I think the iPhone takes the cake, reports suggest that there are already 2 million pre-orders in 24 hrs which is twice as much as the iPhone 4s first day sales.
