Despite the competition, the iPad is not slowing down in dominating the tablet PC market share. According to IHS iSupply, a research firm the iPad hold’s 70 percent of the market share–shipping about 17 million iPad’s in the second quarter and over 28 million so far this year. The iPad business is showing no signs of slowing down.
Lingering in second place is Apples arch-nemesis Samsung with about 10 percent of the market share- moving 2.2 million tablets. Samsung recently released the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, with a stylus- read a review here.
- Amazon hold 5.8 percent of the market share with the Kindle series
- Asus have 2.8 percent with the transformer tablet and Google Nexus
- Barnes & Noble’s Kindle competitor hold 3 percent of the market share.
- Other tablets in the market account for about 20 percent of tablets being sold.
Since launching the iPad series in 2010, Apple have managed to sell approximately 85 million tablets. The iPad is literally blowing the competition away, Samsung which comes in second place is currently facing charges of alleged copyright infringement on Apple’s designs.
