iMore reports that a reliable source has pegged September 12th for the date when Apple will hold the iPhone 5 event and accept pre-orders that same day for U.S customers. The official U.S release date will be a little more than a week after the event.
The international release for the iPhone 5, is likely to launch on the first week of October.
This release is coming a few months later than the iPhone 4, which was released around mid-June in 2010. This will be the first iPhone event without Steve Jobs; which takes us back to 2007 when Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone—the most disruptive and innovative phone to hit us in the last decade.
With more than 150 million iPhones sold to date since 2007, and the rise of Android OS and Samsung competitors, analyst and Apple fans are awaiting the iPhone 5; it will probably not be called the iPhone 5.
The most reported rumours thus far are that the dock connector will be smaller and an iPad mini is imminent.
In other news…
The iPhone 4 is much cheaper to buy right now, and you probably should not because it is less than a month before the new on is released. It is the best time to sell your iPhone 4 if you can live without it for roughly a month or two depending on where you live.
