This post will show you how to delete, hide Socialcam or block Social cam on your Facebook newsfeed and ticker.
Socialcam is the most popular app on Facebook, and it is also the most annoying due to it’s shady ways of sharing what you watch on Facebook or your iPhone. This post is a follow-up on my previous post discussing how many people feel Socialcam is Facebook spam or a sort of virus. The young social-sharing site has recently been acquired by Autodesk for $60 million.
Socialcam has approximately 60 million monthly active users- with it’s daily active users being significantly less, as discussed on the previous post.
How to Hide Socialcam on Facebook
First thing you need to do if find a Socialcam update on your Facebook wall or any of your friends. There will be an arrow or an ‘x’ on the top right on the Socialcam update box. Select the arrow and scroll down to ‘Hide all by Socialcam‘ as showm below:
If a Socialcan video is one of your trending videos, you can select it there and hide it.
How to Delete or Block Socialcam
This is how to get rid of it once and for all, or change the setting so only you can see your Socialcam updates.
To start with on the Facebook homepage at the top right near your name and to the right of ‘Home’ select the arrow and click ‘Privacy Settings‘
This should then lead you to the privacy page tab. Scroll down and select ‘Ads, Apps and Websites‘> ‘Edit Settings‘- this will take you to another page.
You will see ‘Apps you use’ on the right of that click ‘Edit Settings’ this will lead you to the list of apps you use. Scroll down and look for Socialcam, if you have used it recently it should be near the top of the list, telling when last you used it. When you click Socialcam you should be lead to this page:
The option of the top circled in red will allow you to remove the Socialcam app and delete your app history. Another option below allows you to keep using the app but change the setting so that only you will see your Socialcam updates when you watch a video. Facebook will indicate only you can see it with a border around the Socialcam tab on your recent activity feed.
After that you are all done, you can follow the same method for any app you don’t like or if you want to make some apps for private such as Yahoo news social reader which also tends to publish everything you read.
You can always get Socialcam back if you change your mind by clicking on any of it’s links or making a quick search for it on your Facebook. If you don’t want people to see what you watch make sure you select the ‘Only Me’ option, it will be ‘Everyone’ by default so look out for it.
