There is nothing more embarrassing that a huge sweat patch on your shirt when you take off your jacket in the office. The Ministry of Supply have the solution and it’s transmundane, yep- out of space. The ‘Apollo shirts’ were incepted at MIT by a team of entrepreneurs with impressive backgrounds that include designing space suits for astronauts at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
If you suffer from hyperhidrosis, or you are just an emotional sweater, this is the dress shirt you have waited for. Right now, only sports gear has sweat-absorbing technology, but the Ministry of Supply are bringing it to your everyday dress shirt. Other cool features are the wrinkle free technology, odor control and heat management which uses the same technology used in NASA space suits.
They have far exceeded their goal on Kickstarter of $30,000– now at $136,000 and 10 days to go, it is clearly a sought-after product. With a design background that includes working on the iPhone at Apple and designing with IDEO, you can expect the aesthetics of the shirt to be on point.
They also have a range of shirts being produced from V-neck (performance base layer), the Agent shirt and the flagship product, the Apollo. The retail prices are going to be more so get it while you can at the Kickstarter price.
The shirts are also manufactured and packaged in the USA, so if your worried about it being made in a sweatshop in china or india, The Ministry of Supply are bringing the jobs to their home soil. You can view their website, which now, is an introduction to the team, their vision and product.
This could become a big project with fashion/clothing retail deals in the future, VC funding, and international expansion. It is definitely the type of shirt we can all use.
