Business Insider have got a lot of stick lately; everything from over-aggregating, page view whoring, controversial headlines and lack of professional writing.
While Business Insider is guilty of most of the above, it is still awesome for a lot of reasons. The obvious reason Business Insider is succesful, is because it is entertaining, whether you love to hate it or just love it.
While the domain name can be considered misleading, Business Insider isn’t doing anything new in regard to its content, they are doing what newspapers have done for years, and the papers with the sensational headlines sell! They also print a few lies here and there, and write things that are not true, but people still buy these types of papers because it’s attention grabbing and our morbid curiosity gets the best of us.
This people… is called tabloid journalism Business Insider is the tabloid tech publication of the web and they rock at doing it. Making an analogy between tabloid form of journalism and your long-form traditional journalism is probably the inception of the mass hate for BI.
BI now serves 15 million unique visitors a month, goes to show people still and will always love tabloid journalism.
