I have been asked a question of each ‘Is Alienware worth it?’ ‘Is Alienware really the best for gaming?’ ‘Which Alienware Laptop is the best?’
The answer is: don’t look any further than Alienware, these laptops are built for hardcore gamers and specifically for game freaks. If you are a gamer that gets frustrated when games run to slow, or you have to sacrifice the graphics to run smoothly (ahem! Sims 3 comes to mind) then Alienware is for you. The downside is you have to cough out a lot of cash ($999 at the very low end, M11x) but if you think about how often you have to replace a normal laptop and upgrade it- you may end up spending less on a better laptop.
Alienware Laptops come in a series; they are Alienware M11x, Alienware M14x, Alienware M17x and finally the M18x
The best of them all is the M17x but if you are on a tight budget the M11x will do the job just fine.
Alienware M17x
The new Alienware M17x is on a 17 inch screen starting at about $1,849 but if you want spec upgrades get ready to fork out a lot more cash, but with payment/credit plans the hardware is much more affordable. To put it simply the graphics are going to blow you away, there is no laptop on the market with a better graphics experience, the laptop uses 100W of graphics energy; it is also supported PCIe 3.0 NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards. You can also upgrade to the fastest graphic memory money can buy which is the GDDR5 RAM.
It has a minimalistic design and look’s good compared to other heavy-duty gaming laptops but it’s all about the game performance and graphics. It also has a great battery life (about 3 hours of solid gaming) but the only downside is it’s weight- as expected with gaming laptops the M17x is quite heavy.
The upgrade options include a HD experience, more hard drive space, faster memory and a 3D screen, if you have the money go for it, if not you will be happy with it as it is- no other gamer’s laptop compares.
