Google’s new program, Screenwise is quite bizarre- to put it lightly, partly due to the timing.
In light of antitrust allegations and it’s polarizing ‘Search Plus Your World’ feature, Google will pay you to surf the web using Google Chrome while openly sharing your data.
To opt-in as a panelist, you have to install a browser extension on Chrome. The goal behind this initiative is to understand how people use Google and help improve their services.
So how will Google pay you?
Up to $25 in gift cards. Our panel management partner, Knowledge Networks, will give you a $5 Amazon.com Gift Card code instantly when you sign up and download the Google Screenwise browser extension.1 Then you’ll get additional $5 Amazon.com Gift Card codes every three months for staying with it.2 It’s our way of saying “Thank you.”
Overall the Screenwise project will last approximately a year. You have to be over 13-years-old to join and have a Google account.
Will you let Google spy on you for $25? If so you can sign up here.
Although Google is paying with Amazon gift cards- Amazon is not involved in the project. This project will surely spark controversy in the blogosphere.
